First of all, congratulations to the Packers on the great victory. It seemed like every player on the team made a difference this week. The Packers have earned  themselves a trip to the NFC Championship game with this performance! Wooooo Hoo! Congrats to all the Packers fans here in Wisconsin and out there across the world. I hope you loved watching this game as much as I did. Well, let’s talk about it – is this our time? Could this be the team of destiny?

The game MVP has got to be none other than Mr. Aaron Rodgers. He played the game of his life. I mean, it’s easy to overlook how good he is sometimes, because the Packers defense has played so well this season, but you have got to believe that his play in this game is what made the Packers unstoppable. He never seems to get nervous, even when the Packers were down 7-0 and 14-7. How many times did he escape a sure sack in this game? How many times did he make the throw on the run? How many times did he find the open man at the last possible second? I lost count. I tried to count them, but I ran out of fingers. Brett who? Am I right? And how about the celebration with the “title belt” after the touchdown run? Ooooh it’s so good. Screw you, Jon Abraham.

Aaron Rodgers was snubbed for the pro bowl in favor of Matt Ryan and Mike Vick, but I am pretty sure that he was vindicated by beating both in the playoffs. He’s becoming the player that Packers fans have dreamed about since he took his first snap after the Brett Favre era. The scary thing is, he is still getting better. And I can’t even imagine how good he could be with all of his weapons. Remember, he’s been without Ryan Grant and Jermichael Finley for most of the season. It’s easy to forget that with how well he’s played this year. He threw for three TD’s and ran for another in the game tonight. Just an insane performance. Atta boy, Rodgers!

Other players also came up huge in this game. James “Grid-Iron Man” Starks was a beast once the Packers had the lead. John “the dump truck” Kuhn was his usual bowling ball self. Jordy “White Lightning” Nelson made some great catch-and-runs. And who could forget my favorite player: Donald “Double D!” Driver. He still plays the game pretty well for an old man. 🙂 Also, fun fact about this game: the Packers did not punt ONCE in the game.

On the defensive side of the ball, the game MVP was surely Tramon Williams. He had not one, but two game-changing interceptions. Can you believe the interception for the touchdown just before halftime? That might have been the play of the game. The other corners played very well, too. Charles Woodson had a nice sack of Matt Ryan. Clay “The Beastmaster” Matthews was all over the field. That was no surprise. He’s been all over the field all year. B.J. Raji is now a force on defense and offense. I absolutely loved the call to put him in as a fullback on the goal line. Also, let’s give it up for linebackers A.J. Hawk, Desmond Bishop and Clay Matthews. Matthews also had the fumble recovery.  The linebackers just SHUT DOWN Michael Turner in this game. I knew that they could do it. The Packers ‘D was on fire in this game. Thank you, Dom Capers.

I suppose I do have to say a few things that the Packers should work on for next week, because they did make a few mistakes. The early fumble by Greg Jennings might have hurt them in a  game that was close. Luckily, it was a non-factor. The kickoff coverage was pathetic on the return touchdown that was allowed to Eric Weems. I was glad to see that they tried to kick it away from him for the rest of the game. They allowed the Falcons to have a late touchdown drive once they had a commanding lead. And, Mason Crosby missed the long field goal in the fourth quarter. He was able to make his second try, though.

Okay, that’s all for the game. Let’s have a feast for the NFC Championship!!! But what will the Packers be feasting upon? Bear flesh, or Seahawk meat? Neither one sounds very appetizing to me. So, while you’re trying to decide, eat this! Not That! Remember, no matter what game day snacks you decide to make, everything is better with some Wis-con-sin Cheddar. Hope you enjoyed reading this! I still have another week to blog!!!  Yes! See you next week. Happy Reading, Happy eating and GO PACK GO!
